For over a hundred years, this building stood at the approach to Hikosan Jingu, welcoming pilgrims and mountain wanderers along one of Kyushu's most storied sacred routes. Today, it has been reborn through a complete renovation from the ground up, honoring its timber bones while reimagining every interior space.
百年以上にわたり、この建物は英彦山神宮の参道入口に佇み、九州屈指の聖地を訪れる巡礼者や山旅人を迎えてきました。今、骨格となる木造軸組みを活かしながら、全ての内部空間を刷新する全面的な改修によって、新たな命が吹き込まれました。
Operated by Shiraume Ryokan KK, the concept is a small, privately run lodging with five considered guest rooms, unhurried hospitality, and a setting that no city hotel can manufacture: the smell of cedar forest, the sound of mountain water, and a shrine that has anchored this valley since 740 CE.
白梅旅館株式会社が運営するこのコンセプトは、五室のみの小さな宿。急ぐことのないおもてなしと、都市のホテルでは決して再現できない環境がここにあります。杉の香り、山の水音、そして西暦740年からこの谷に鎮座する神社。

Why Hikosanなぜ英彦山か
This is not the biggest ryokan in Japan, and it will never compete on scale with the mountain lodges of Hakuba or Niseko, or the well-worn temple routes of Kyoto. That was never the intent. What Hikosan offers instead cannot be manufactured: a 1,300-year-old pilgrimage still walked today, a shrine that has anchored this valley since 740 CE, and a rural corner of Kyushu that most travelers — Japanese or foreign — have never heard of. これは日本最大の旅館ではなく、白馬やニセコの山岳ロッジ、あるいは京都の使い古された寺社巡りと規模で競うことはありません。それは最初から意図していないことです。代わりに英彦山が提供できるものは、作り出すことができないものです——今なお歩かれ続ける1,300年の巡礼路、西暦740年からこの谷に鎮座する神社、そして日本人にも外国人にも、ほとんど知られていない九州の片田舎。
Many properties stage a version of traditional Japan for visitors passing through. This is a working pilgrimage town, and the inn sits on the actual route, not a curated approximation of one.多くの宿泊施設は、通り過ぎる旅行者のために「伝統的な日本」を演出します。ここは今も生きる巡礼の町であり、宿はその実際の参道の上に立っており、それを模した演出ではありません。
A small number of guests at any one time means the mountain, the shrine, and the innkeepers' attention are never shared with a crowd. Exclusivity here is a byproduct of scale, not a marketing term.一度に滞在するゲストの数を少数に保つことで、山も、神社も、宿の主人の心配りも、大勢と分かち合うことはありません。ここでの特別感は、マーケティング用語ではなく、規模がもたらす自然な結果です。
Room Concepts客室コンセプト
Downstairs, three Japandi-inspired rooms with a quieter, more contemporary hand. Upstairs, two traditional rooms within the inn's original architecture. Five rooms in total, each a distinct way of settling into the mountain.1階には、静かで現代的な感性を纏う3つのジャパンディルーム。2階には、宿の元の建築を残す2つの伝統的な客室。合わせて5室、それぞれが異なる形で、この山に寄り添います。
Three rooms blending Japanese and Scandinavian sensibilities, with natural materials, quiet palettes, and direct access to the garden. Each has its own ensuite ofuro bath.和とスカンジナビアの感性を組み合わせた3室。自然素材、静かな色調、庭への直接のアクセス。それぞれに専用のお風呂（露天風呂）を備えています。
Room 01客室01
A full 12-mat tatami room opening directly onto the garden, with a private ensuite ofuro bath finished in warm stone. The largest of the three first-floor rooms, and the most traditional in feel.庭へと直接開かれた、12畳の和室。温かみのある石造りの専用露天風呂付き。1階の3室の中で最も広く、最も和の趣を残した客室です。

A raised platform bed sits across hardwood and tatami flooring, with room to add futons for additional guests. Direct garden access and a private ensuite ofuro bath.フローリングと畳を組み合わせた床の上に、高床式のベッドを配置。布団を追加することも可能です。庭への直接アクセスと専用露天風呂付き。

The third Japandi room, following the same raised platform bed and hardwood-and-tatami layout as Room 02, with its own garden outlook and private ensuite ofuro bath.客室02と同様、高床式ベッドとフローリング・畳を組み合わせた3室目のジャパンディルーム。専用の庭の眺めと露天風呂付き。

A 10-mat tatami room within the inn's original second-floor structure, comfortably suited to up to six guests. Original ceiling beams remain exposed above the sleeping area.宿の元の2階構造をそのまま残した10畳の和室。最大6名まで快適にご利用いただけます。寝室の上には当時の天井梁が残されています。
Room 05客室05
The largest room in the inn, with 18 tatami mats accommodating up to eight to ten guests, anchored by a circular window original to the building. Large enough for group dining within the room on request.宿最大の客室は18畳、最大8〜10名まで対応。建物本来の円窓が特徴です。ご希望に応じて、室内での団体でのお食事にも対応できる広さです。
In every room:全室共通： A private ensuite ofuro bath, yukata provided on arrival, premium toiletries, high-quality bedding, Wi-Fi, television, and an in-room coffee and tea setup. Second-floor guests additionally share the balcony, engawa, and mountain-viewing lounge. 専用露天風呂、到着時にご用意する浴衣、上質なアメニティ、上質な寝具、Wi-Fi、テレビ、客室内のコーヒー・お茶セット。2階のゲストは、バルコニー、縁側、山を望むラウンジも共有していただけます。

The Local Area周辺エリア
Soeda-machi sits in the Chikuho mountains of southeastern Fukuoka Prefecture, bordered by Oita to the east. The town's identity is inseparable from Mt. Hiko (英彦山), a 1,200-meter sacred peak that has drawn pilgrims, Shugendo practitioners, and mountain ascetics for over 1,300 years.添田町は福岡県南東部の筑豊山地に位置し、東は大分県と接しています。この町のアイデンティティは英彦山と切り離せません。1,200メートルの霊峰は、1,300年以上にわたり巡礼者、修験道の行者、山岳修行者を引き寄せてきました。

Four Seasons四季
Cherry blossoms arrive along the sando path. The shrine holds its annual Gojinkosai Festival in April. New-growth cedar fills the valley with vivid green.参道沿いに桜が咲きます。4月には神社で年に一度の御神幸祭が開催されます。新緑の杉が谷を鮮やかな緑で満たします。
Mountain altitude keeps Hikosan 4–6°C cooler than Fukuoka City. Early mornings reveal cloud seas below the peaks. A sought-after escape from coastal summer heat.標高のおかげで英彦山は福岡市内より4〜6℃涼しい。早朝には峰々の下に雲海が広がります。海岸部の夏の暑さからの避暑地として人気です。
The most dramatic season. Maple and cedar foliage transforms the mountain into a tapestry of deep red, orange, and gold. Autumn leaves typically peak mid-to-late November.最もドラマチックな季節。紅葉と杉が山を深紅、橙、金色のタペストリーに変えます。紅葉の見頃は例年11月中旬から下旬。

A traditional Japanese breakfast each morning and, in the evening, a kaiseki-inspired dinner built around what local Fukuoka farmers, foragers, and fishmongers bring to the kitchen that day.毎朝の伝統的な和朝食と、夕方には福岡の地元農家や漁師がその日届けた食材を中心に組み立てる懐石風のディナー。
Every room offers its own ofuro bath, finished in warm stone. An intimate, unhurried ritual rather than a shared facility.全客室に専用の露天風呂を備え、温かみのある石で仕上げています。共用施設ではなく、静かで個人的な湯浴みの時間を。
Cotton yukata robes are provided for all guests. Walking the sando to the shrine in yukata at dusk is one of the simple pleasures the property makes possible.全ゲストに浴衣をご用意します。夕暮れ時に浴衣で参道を歩いて神社へ向かうのは、この宿ならではのシンプルな喜びのひとつです。
Guests are welcomed with tea and a seasonal sweet in the common room. A brief orientation covers the property, the mountain, and the next day's breakfast time. Nothing is rushed.共用室でお茶と季節の和菓子でお迎えします。宿、山、翌朝の朝食時間についての簡単なご案内があります。急ぐことは何もありません。
